3DMart's office has many green potted plants, and recently we've given them a makeover to add more fun to the office. Our first target was the cute, bald Minion!
This time, we used an Ultimaker 3, with the main body printed in PLA and assisted by the super helpful PVA water-soluble support. After 2 days and 17 hours of printing, it was time for a bath in the water!

Here's a look at the Minion halfway through its bath, with a runny nose. The PVA water-soluble support is hard and brittle after printing. Once placed in water, it gradually dissolves as shown in the picture and can completely dissolve in water.

After cleaning, let's take a look at the finished 3D printed result. The naked Minion is already very beautiful as is.

Next up is the big project of repotting. You can see that the planter on the left looks rather ugly; we're going to transplant the plant into the cute Minion and make the Minion grow hair. First, we need to add some new soil and mix in some of the old soil. Then, we carefully place the plant's roots, along with some soil, into the new planter.

Let's take a look at the naked Minion after repotting. It already looks much better than the original planter; but that's not enough, we're going to dress up the Minion with acrylic paints!

Because FDM 3D prints still have some texture, you'll need to apply several layers of acrylic paint. If you're going to try this, remember to let each layer dry before applying the next for a more beautiful finish. Slow and steady wins the race, so don't rush it!

Compared to the plain 3D printed object, the painted Minion looks much more vibrant. We encourage everyone to print their favorite characters and give it a try! If you don't have a 3D printer, we also offer high-quality printing services! All the latest news will be shared on our Facebook page, so please stay tuned!
