The annual Mid-Autumn Festival is here again! Are you tired of yolk pastries and pineapple cakes? It's so hot, let's make snow skin mooncakes! No need to worry if you're single, snow skin mooncakes can be made without an oven or microwave! This time, we also used a 3D printer to make custom mooncake molds. Let's give it a try now!
First, prepare the following ingredients (serves about 5 people):
Cooked glutinous rice flour 125g
Cooked corn starch 30g
Powdered sugar 20g
Red bean paste 200g
Matcha powder 15g
Unsalted butter 20g
Drinking water 200g
One mooncake mold

If cooked glutinous rice flour and cooked corn starch are hard to find, make sure to microwave the flour for two minutes until thoroughly cooked before making them! (Adjust the time yourself according to your microwave's power)
First, sift the cooked glutinous rice flour and matcha powder, and add room temperature butter to knead evenly. Then, gradually add water and mix well.


Continue kneading until the dough is elastic. Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for about 30 minutes to relax the dough, which will make it more elastic.

At this time, it's perfect to take out our filling and roll it into small balls, about half the volume of the mold. The other half of the volume should be reserved for the mooncake skin later.


While waiting for the mooncake skin, the mooncake mold in the Ultimaker is almost finished printing! This time, we used PLA with PVA.

It looks beautiful after removing the supports. After cleaning, it can be used directly for cold pressing and molding! The plunger at the back allows the snow skin mooncakes to be extruded more easily.




We made two kinds of mooncake skins using the same method: original flavor and matcha. You can also add different flavorings according to your preferences!

Roll the mooncake skin into a ball and then flatten it. Wrap the filling completely with the mooncake skin, just like a dumpling, and pinch off any excess skin at the end.

Then, dip the entire mooncake in cooked corn starch, and it's ready for molding! Remember to press firmly so that the finished product is smooth and even!


Delicious snow skin mooncakes are that easy to make. Chill them in the refrigerator, and the mooncake skin will be delightfully chewy and soft; during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, let the whole family make them together!
