Our initial test is here again! Not only Chunghwa Telecom but also 3DMart is at the forefront for you. Do you still remember the large-scale 1:1 brake caliper test with the Ultimaker S5 last time?
After the success last time, we thoughtfully considered the actual 3D printing molding situation for our customers. This time, we used PolyCast for printing, a material specifically designed for investment metal casting (lost-wax casting). It can be used with the Polysher alcohol polishing machine (latest offer: buy before August 10th and get a roll of Polysmooth filament!). Moreover, it can be completely burned away within the plaster mold to create the mold cavity before metal pouring.
Now, let's reveal the actual situation! One of the advantages of Ultimaker S5 large-scale printing is the direct printing of PVA support material and the main body. This allows for simultaneous completion in a single print, saving a significant amount of time. Printing the main body took approximately four days.

After dissolving the support in water, the body is ready for molding!

We specifically took close-up shots so everyone can examine the details. As you can see, aside from some minor 3D printing textures, the holes are printed quite completely and accurately.

We sent this 3D printed PolyCast model to the manufacturer, and a few days later, the metal model arrived!!
Holding the physical metal model feels completely different; it's incredibly heavy! Our boss spared no expense to prioritize this test for everyone, which is truly heartwarming!

This isn't Darth Vader, but its power is just like Darth Vader's! From 3D printing to a functional 1:1 full metal casting, without the expensive molding fees and the time cost of back-and-forth modifications. At this stage, after just some fine-tuning with CNC, the prototype is complete. What an exciting result!

The finished metal model is very beautiful, and the details are also clearly defined. The circular holes in the photo are also very clear and complete.

Don't doubt your eyes! You can look even closer!

With the two twins placed side-by-side, from 3D printing to metal casting, it truly comes to life. If this method is used for rapid prototyping, it will be a major breakthrough for many industrial processes!

We will continue to explore new 3D printing methods to ensure the best quality. If you also need OEM services for metal casting prototypes, please feel free to contact us.
