【3D SCANNING】Unboxing the Creality Raptor Pro 3D Scanner
Creality's Raptor Pro makes industrial-grade 3D scanning more accessible than ever before, combining impressive detail with surprising ease of use.
Importing real-world objects into a computer for use in 3D software, game development, or even 3D printing used to be something only a few could do, as the technology required was costly.
But by 2025, this technology is more accessible than ever.
And Creality, known for its 3D printers, laser cutters, and other maker technologies, is leading the way with its new Creality Raptor Pro 3D scanner.

Out of the Box
The Raptor Pro's hard-shell case includes the scanner, manual, calibration card, USB cable, power cord, and a set of scan points for marking objects to be scanned.
The packaging is excellent, containing everything needed to start scanning, and the overall feel is very solid and well-made.
Out of the box, the Creality CR-Scan Raptor Pro is an impressive piece of technology, with a physical feel that looks much more expensive than its actual price.
This scanner is a handheld, dual-mode device that offers metrology-grade accuracy at an affordable price, suitable for small studios or independent creators.

It combines a 22-line blue laser array, a 7-line parallel laser pattern, and near-infrared structured light.
The device can scan objects ranging from finger-sized parts to entire vehicles, with an accuracy of up to 0.02 mm and a working range of 5 mm to 4000 mm.
In practical use, it is powerful and fast, capable of clearly capturing details on hard surfaces.
Its performance is impressive, and as you begin setup and calibration, you quickly realize the immense potential of 3D scanners like the Raptor Pro.

High Speed, High Fidelity
Creality positions the Raptor Pro as a high-speed, high-fidelity device, offering a scan speed of 660,000 pts/s in laser mode, up to 60 fps, and 24-bit color capture in NIR mode.
It also boasts a volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm + 0.08 mm/m.
For its class, it is remarkably easy to use, and as long as the scanning mode and scene settings are perfectly matched to the task, it generally maintains consistency in detail capture and speed.
While this scanner offers two object capture modes, the blue laser line is the highlight.
It can read dark metals and black plastics without overspray, and it reveals scratches and wear that consumer-grade structured light devices simply can't match in terms of detail.

Equipped with a Near-Infrared (NIR) light source, the Raptor Pro operates quickly with precise color capture, making it the preferred choice for creators dealing with large interior spaces or vehicle components where speed and environmental textures are crucial for tracking.
In blue laser mode, whether it's 22 cross lines (for wider coverage) or 7 parallel lines (for maximum accuracy), the Raptor Pro focuses on precision scanning of tolerance-sensitive parts.
The texture and color level captured by the Raptor Pro is impressive, making it incredibly useful for independent game designers looking to elevate asset quality and enhance the overall polish of their projects, and even for filmmakers or 3D artists.

If you want to use the blue laser mode, you will need to use marker stickers.
While the software can automatically remove them from the mesh, placing and cleaning them takes time.
For small to medium-sized parts with high tolerance requirements, the improvement in edge quality and surface accuracy is evident.
For large scans or mixed-surface scenes, the near-infrared mode allows for markerless scanning and color capture, maintaining scan speed, although it doesn't offer the same fidelity for fine geometries as the blue laser.
The Raptor Pro maintains good tracking, especially with carefully placed markers.

High Value-for-Money
The functionality and performance level of this device are truly surprising.
With a suggested retail price of NT$75,600, the Raptor Pro is neither cheap nor expensive, but it strikes a balance between high-end professional tools and consumer-oriented products that often feel limited in functionality.
Just a few years ago, something similar would have cost you significantly more, and to match today's professional-grade configurations, you would pay more than double the price.

It's exciting to see such technology become widely available, inspiring new creators and makers to push boundaries they thought impossible just a few years ago.
Notably, the Raptor Pro is priced below Creality's own high-end products, while offering a 24% speed increase over the original Raptor and maintaining its accuracy.

This makes it particularly appealing for independent manufacturers, cosplayers, digital artists, and service bureaus who need reliable capture without enterprise-level costs.
Its features, including the ability to scan black or ferrous surfaces without spray and an extended NIR working range of up to 4,000 mm, allow for capturing automotive parts and fixtures without complex preparation, while still maintaining an impressive level of detail.
For anyone needing sharp edge scans on mechanical parts, or scans for game development or even 3D printing, the Raptor Pro's blue laser mode delivers the fidelity promised on the spec sheet, and when the scene is set correctly with markers and overlap, it can be done quickly.
For larger scenes, interior scenes, and complete panels, the NIR mode's markerless workflow and color capture help maintain fluidity and reduce preparation work.
