【3D Printing Application】Are 3D printed lamps also a beacon of sustainability?
We can easily turn on the lights with just a touch every day, but who really thinks about the large amount of energy consumed by each light bulb? Integrating 3D printing into our lives can bring new impetus to sustainable development!
Dutch lighting company Yuugn recognized this issue and designed 3D printed light fixtures for offices, commercial spaces, and schools, promoting sustainable development.
Yuugn believes it is their responsibility to produce environmentally friendly products to reduce pollution caused by traditional methods. Before making a choice, they personally visited the Dutch headquarters to inspect the BCN3D Sigma D25s 3D printer used for prototyping and final production.
Let's take a look at these eye-catching 3D printed light fixtures.

The main body of the Swirl downlight features a vibrant metallic purple. It's a ceiling-mounted fixture that directs light downwards. The ring of the Swirl downlight is 3D printed, and the visible part is placed face down on glass to create a high-quality finish. This material uses carbon fiber reinforced biodegradable polylactic acid to enhance its strength and high-temperature resistance, two important considerations in the lighting industry.

The side cover design of the ZIP module 60 LED fixture ensures that the components are securely embedded. These parts are printed using carbon fiber PLA.

The replication mode in 3D printing can effectively reduce carbon emissions in production. With replication mode, you can buy two 3D printers for the price of one. The IDEX technology in the Sigma D25s saves time, money, and protects the planet. It allows for rapid customization of component prototypes for each customer and local production, which helps protect the ecosystem. The 3D printing process allows the team to use organic compounds made from renewable resources and biodegradable materials. The Yuugn team is currently researching recyclable materials, especially a soft, multi-colored material made from plastic bottles. If combined with 3D printed components, it could lead to a final product that combines efficient craftsmanship and quality.
In the future, Yuugn hopes to continue exploring new eco-friendly materials and one day use solar energy to directly power its printers. If Yuugn's values can be combined with 3D printing tools, it is expected to set a standard for manufacturers and bring about change!
