Ultimaker constantly seeks to improve its products, materials, and services. Here are some of the latest updates we want to share with you, the results of our recent efforts – new materials and kits that will enhance your 3D printing experience.
New Materials
In the world of 3D printing, not all materials are created equal. Choosing the right material is crucial for achieving good printing results. Here's a brief overview of some new materials that will give you more options in your work.CPE+.
CPE (Copolyester): Tough, chemically resistant, and dimensionally stable. To make this material even more distinct from its predecessors, CPE+ is now officially available! CPE+ offers 10 times the toughness and temperature resistance, making it a very reliable material for both small-batch production and functional prototyping.
PC.
Our PC material (polycarbonate) allows you to print high-strength, high-toughness objects. After testing, it showed no deformation even at high temperatures of 110˚C. It's an excellent choice for printing molds or functional parts that require high temperature and strength resistance.
Nylon.
Nylon is renowned for its mechanical properties, including excellent tensile strength, compressive strength, and wear resistance, while also being remarkably lightweight. If you need to produce wear-resistant and robust parts, Nylon is an excellent choice.
TPU 95A.
This versatile material is well-suited for industrial applications and manufacturing. Similar to rubber, it boasts high flexibility, corrosion resistance, and strong layer adhesion, making it more convenient and faster for printing mechanical parts, tools, or fixtures.
New Cura Release
Ready to experience new materials with Ultimaker? The new Cura 2.1.3 includes new material options and many advanced feature settings, perfect for use with our new material selection.Download 2.1.3: https://ultimaker.com/en/products/cura-software
The new Cura 2.1.3 adds parameters suitable for different materials. After downloading, it will be more convenient for you to use different materials. To improve user quality, we will no longer add features to Cura 15.04, only making minor bug fixes and tweaks.
Cura 2.1.3 will also update your 3D printer firmware. In addition to updating the software, we also recommend updating the firmware. Here are our new corrections:
1. Ultimaker 2/2+ Fix: We fixed an issue where the print head on Ultimaker 2 and 2+ could collide with the right side of the machine or the glass clips during printing.
2. Heated bed temperature: The heated beds of Ultimaker Original+ and Ultimaker 2+ can now heat up to 100˚C~115˚C.
3. Individual retraction settings: All Ultimaker 2+ printers can now set retraction individually for different materials and nozzles.
4. Heated bed position: For safety, we increased the distance between the heated bed and the nozzle during heating.
5. Added new material selections: Updated print parameters suitable for new materials.
Advanced 3D Printing Kit
Ultimaker's Advanced 3D Printing Kit allows your machine to print under more stable conditions and achieve better results. Strong adhesion sheets: provide better adhesion between your object and the heated bed, a new alternative to glue!Front enclosure: installing the front enclosure can increase the stability of the 3D printing environment - more stable temperature and success rate, and significantly improve print quality. The Advanced Kit will be available in September. It is recommended to use it with new materials.
New Ultimaker Original Accessories
Now that Ultimaker Original+ has replaced Ultimaker Original, we have almost stopped producing upgrade kits for Ultimaker Original, including the following products:◎ Extruder drive upgrade
◎ Knurled drive bolt kit
◎ Ulticontroller kit
◎ Heated bed upgrade
◎ Dual extrusion kit
We have sent all inventory to our distributors until sold out.
We hope you are all excited about these new features! We will continue to bring you more news about Ultimaker 3D printers.
