【3D Printing News Flash】New Ideas for Year-End Parties and Spring Banquets: Soar into the New Year!

This propeller helicopter, completed with a single 3D print, flies very smoothly when controlled by a pull-cord, reaching almost three stories high outdoors.Each part of this helicopter is a separate entity, so they must be printed individually. However, since thePrusa i3 MK3S has a printing area of up to 25 cm, all parts can be arranged neatly and printed in one go.
The assembly method after 3D printing is super simple: just install the propeller and the launcher pull-cord. The two are interlinked using a gear structure; by quickly pulling out the cord, the propeller spins rapidly and takes off with the airflow, similar to the Beyblades and bamboo-copters of our childhood.
To meet the high demand of the "Kaohsiung Harbor Maker Festival" at the time, in addition to using the Prusa i3 MK3S 3D printer, we also used the Ultimaker S3 to complete the task within the deadline.
Both 3D printers operate smoothly after printing and support removal. The Prusa i3 MK3S, priced under NT$50,000, is definitely a high-value entry-level choice; the industrial-grade Ultimaker S3 features a dual-nozzle system, resulting in smoother and more refined print surfaces.
We printed a variety of colors to distinguish whose helicopter flew highest in the competition. Everyone frantically and quickly pulled their cords, and the strongest "Soaring to the Sky" helicopter would win the year-end party grand prize!
