[3D Printing News] Latest Firmware 5.2 Released, Best Paired with Cura 4.0!
Updating your new firmware to version 5.2 for Ultimaker 3D printers not only allows you to enjoy the cloud features of Ultimaker Cloud, but also incorporates many improvements to 3D printing performance with the Cura 4.0 slicing software.
Remote Printing
We previously introduced the remote printing feature in Cura 4.0. Please note that this applies to Ultimaker 3 or Ultimaker S5 3D printers, and each Ultimaker account can connect to one 3D printer.

Automatic Calibration
The new firmware improves the efficiency of active calibration on the Ultimaker S5. Instead of scanning the entire print bed, it assesses the printing area for the object before printing begins and skips unused nozzles to speed up the process, increasing the success rate of 3D printing. To use this feature, you need to prepare prints using Ultimaker Cura 4.0 or higher.
Sensor Diagnostics
The new version of Ultimaker 3 and Ultimaker S5 3D printers adds a horizontal sensor diagnostic function, which can detect whether the capacitive sensor in the print head is in optimal condition and indicate whether maintenance is needed: (a) sensor is operating normally (b) signal interference detected (c) sensor requires maintenance.
Improved Experience
More details on user experience include: filament run-out detection settings are now embedded in UFP files, making filament run-out detection more accurate for the Ultimaker S5; reduced noise when the build plate lowers after printing is complete; the internal lights of the Ultimaker S5 can now be completely turned off; and for TPU material settings, the heated bed temperature for TPU filament is improved during XY axis calibration to enhance stability. Updating software and firmware is crucial for the normal operation of 3D printers. In case of sudden errors, please ensure your software and firmware are up to date, and we recommend setting them to auto-update.
*Please note: The new 5.2 firmware update is applicable to Ultimaker 3 and Ultimaker S5 3D printers. If you are using an older model 3D printer, we still recommend enabling auto-updates to receive the latest firmware for your specific model.
