【3D Printing News】NTUT Industrial Design Exhibition: "Add and Subtract" New Designs!
Although the New Generation Design Exhibition was moved online earlier this year due to the pandemic, Taiwan's design students have still worked incredibly hard. After a continuous streak of zero confirmed cases, the Department of Industrial Design at National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) is still holding an on-campus exhibition! This year, among 12,000 student works nationwide, NTUT's Department of Industrial Design has 19 works nominated and won 23 awards. Let's take a look at the numerous award-winning works, commemorative merchandise, and 3D printing!
. "Daily-Deli Safety Delivery Kit"
With the rise of food delivery services like UberEats and Foodpanda, there's also been an increase in accidents involving delivery motorcycles. This design aims to create safety equipment that combines work convenience with the safety of delivery personnel. Information from a smartphone is projected onto the helmet's visor, eliminating the need for delivery personnel to look down at their phones. In the event of an accident, an airbag vest with built-in sensors automatically inflates to protect vulnerable parts of the body such as the cervical spine and chest. A transparent pocket on the chest can hold a smartphone, automatically displaying an electronic business card for customers to identify during pickup.

. "SAVIOUR Modular Teaching Swim Gear"
Drowning is the third leading cause of death globally, and children in impoverished areas have very limited resources for learning to swim. SAVIOUR is swim gear that makes good use of discarded plastic bottles. After using 3D printing to create modules, local discarded plastic bottles can be freely assembled into various forms like kickboards and swim rings. This not only can be used for various swimming lessons but also effectively recycles waste. This work has even advanced to the final round of the "Golden Pin Concept Award for Circular Design."

. Furniture and Interior Design Group – "Talk Slowly"
Sometimes you just want to be alone, sometimes you want to interact with others? "Talk Slowly" is a seating solution with adjustable louvers that can be opened and closed, offering both privacy and openness. It is suitable for public spaces such as co-working offices, airports, and shopping malls.
In addition to the wonderful works mentioned above, there are also exquisite peripheral products created by emerging designers. You can even witness the latest Ultimaker S5 industrial 3D printer producing phone stands on site, with free giveaways for purchases over a certain amount!
NTUT has the longest-standing industrial design department in Taiwan. Emerging designers and alumni often win multiple international accolades, such as the German iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. This year, graduating designers have chosen "Add and Subtract" as their theme, striking a balance between aesthetics and practicality. With air conditioning on sunny days and shade on rainy days, come and experience a different design exhibition this weekend!
