【3D Printing Application】"Overwatch":One shot, one kill, straight to your heart!
"Overwatch" is a multiplayer shooting game by Blizzard Entertainment, featuring a complete game story and character styles. Among them, the sniper "Widowmaker" is a cold and ruthless character in the game, and with her exclusive sniper rifle "Widow's Kiss", she'll hit you right in the heart with one shot!

This life-size "Widow's Kiss" has a maximum length of 140 cm and requires an adult to hold it with two hands. It was made by 3D printing individual parts and then assembling them. The 3D printers used for this project were dual-extruder systems, specifically Ultimaker S5 and Ultimaker 3. It was printed with a high-precision layer thickness of 0.15mm, using PLA filament and water-soluble PVA for supports.
The model itself has a tremendous amount of detail. Even when disassembled and printed in parts, it almost filled a six-person conference table. The color of the PLA we used happened to be very similar to the blue-purple of "Widow's Kiss." Since it's a virtual gun from the game, not only the exterior but also specialized assembly parts like screws and fixing shafts had to be 3D printed.
We first completed the handle and the barrel separately before assembling the whole thing. During production, we admired the developer's dedication and attention to detail; even the invisible internal joint structures after assembly reflected the game's style.
The realistic fidelity of the finished product is astonishing; the only thing missing is an infrared light inside. We are very grateful to the developer for generously providing the complete open-source 3D model files, making it possible to actually produce it with a 3D printer.
When the barrel is not extended, the total length is about 110 cm. When extended, the total length can reach 140 cm. Since the gun is too large, we even custom-made a stand to hold it. Additionally, we placed a regular 15 cm ballpoint pen as a scale reference and included a handsome model for a real-person comparison, to help everyone visualize the actual size.
