[3D Printing] Bambu Lab's "MakerWorld" Platform Sets New Standards for Print Profile Publishing

Bambu Lab's 3D printing platform, MakerWorld, has introduced new standards for print profiles. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of content on the platform.
This change affects all users who share profiles on the platform and is intended to improve the reliability and quality of 3D prints.
The new standards took effect on October 9th, requiring creators to review and adjust their existing profiles if necessary.
MakerWorld is responding to community feedback, aiming to provide users with more consistent and higher-quality print results.

Here's an introduction to the new print profile standards introduced by MakerWorld:

1. Print profiles must include a real image of the print.
When uploading a print profile, MakerWorld requires creators to provide at least one real photo of the model printed using this profile.
The purpose is to demonstrate its printability. This not only gives users more confidence to print it but also makes the print profile more popular.

※Please note that models not produced by FDM 3D printers will be considered invalid for physical photos.

2. Choose a meaningful name.
Choose a name that reflects the main characteristics of your profile, so others can easily select from these print profiles.
Examples:
4 colors, adjustable supports, 0.16mm layer height
For A1 mini, 0.24mm layer thickness, 5mm brim

3. High-quality print profiles
Examples of high-quality print profiles include:
Custom print profiles with carefully tuned settings and tested results.
Significant improvements over existing print profiles in print reliability, part orientation, support optimization, and model integrity.
Careful coloring of the model.

4. Separate versions on different plates (not mandatory)
If your model has variations, place each variation on a separate plate and name it accordingly.
This will allow users to easily choose the desired version.

5. Upload the first print profile of the model.
If a model does not have any existing print profiles, upload it first.

❌ Prohibited actions

1. Uploading print profiles with obvious quality issues
Print profiles with obvious defects, such as missing necessary supports, visible print quality defects in physical photos, or missing necessary parts, leading to print failure or inability to assemble correctly.

2. 3mf files, titles, descriptions, or models that do not match
Avoid uploading print profiles to incorrect models or submitting 3MF files that do not match their titles or descriptions.

3. Duplicate print profile uploads
Avoid re-uploading print profiles, whether your own or others'. Minor adjustments to existing print profiles that do not add substantial value will be considered duplicates and removed.

4. Uploading multiple print profiles compatible with the same printer model
For example, if a print profile for X1C already exists, there is no need to upload a new profile for P1S. For printer models like the X1 series/P1 series, only one print profile is sufficient.

5. Only changing the filament or print plate type in a new profile
This can be considered a duplicate print profile and may be deleted. It is not recommended to upload profiles with minor changes.

6. Unnecessarily duplicating models
Bambu Handy and Bambu Studio have duplication features, so there's no need to duplicate a model and upload it as a new print profile.

7. Single-color versions for multicolor models
If a multicolor print profile is already available, there is no need to upload a single-color profile.
Users can choose to print in a single color using Bambu Handy, which won't generate a flush tower, or they can select to print in only one color in Bambu Studio, which also avoids the need for a flush tower.
Such uploads will be considered duplicate profiles and will be removed.

8. Splitting a model into multiple print profiles for upload
If a model has multiple parts, putting them into a single print profile prevents users from overlooking any parts during printing. Additionally, it helps maintain a cleaner, more organized model page.
An allowed exception is if a certain component of the model has multiple variations; you can upload variations as separate print profiles, but it is recommended to upload variations as separate plates within a print profile and name the plates accordingly.

9. Print profile names must adhere to the following naming conventions:
Prohibited terms: Terms indicating special speed ("fast," "quick," "instant"), comparative advantages ("better," "faster"), guarantees ("guaranteed," "assured"), exclusivity ("exclusive," "privileged"), or official identity ("official," "verified") are not allowed.
Misleading statements: Unverified, exaggerated, or potentially misleading statements are prohibited. This includes claims of "best," "top-tier," "first," "100% success," or "perfect" performance.
Branding restrictions: Misleading branding-related logos, characters, or terms are strictly prohibited to avoid creating a false impression of affiliation or endorsement.

The comprehensive documentation on the MakerWorld wiki page summarizes the detailed requirements for print profiles. There, users will find specific technical specifications that must be followed when creating and updating profiles.
The platform relies on community cooperation to enforce the new standards. Profiles that do not comply with the updated guidelines after the deadline may be reported and removed. This highlights MakerWorld's emphasis on adhering to these quality standards.
