One Platform, Five Expandable Light Sources
The X1 starts with a 55W CO₂ laser. Adding the 20W Diode Galvo module enables high-speed engraving, and it can be further expanded with 5W UV, 60W MOPA, and 30W Fiber light sources. Choose the light source you need on the same platform to expand material and processing applications.
| 55W CO₂ | Standard; suitable for cutting common non-metallic materials such as wood, acrylic, leather, and paper. |
|---|---|
|
20W Diode Galvo |
Optional; suitable for fast, detailed engraving on materials such as wood, leather, dark acrylic, and cardstock. It is also the base module required for UV, MOPA, and Fiber expansion. |
| 5W UV | Optional; the only light source in the X1 that supports glass engraving, and it uses low-heat processing to enable detailed engraving on multiple materials. |
| 30W Fiber | Optional; suitable for metal marking and deep 3D engraving, delivering fine and high-contrast results. |
| 60W MOPA | Optional; suitable for advanced metal processing. Compared with the 30W Fiber, it is described by the manufacturer as offering finer details, faster processing speeds, and better color engraving and embossing effects. |
Combining Galvo Speed with Gantry-Style Large-Area Processing
Hybrid Motion™ is a four-axis flying galvo system that synchronizes the X-Y axis movement of the gantry with dual galvos, providing galvo processing speeds of up to 6,000 mm/s within a large working area. This design allows the same machine to handle larger projects while supporting fast, detailed engraving.
| Galvo processing speed | Up to 6,000 mm/s |
|---|---|
| Flat engraving area | 615 × 320 mm; approximately 24.2″ × 12.6″ on the official website |
| CO₂ processing speed | Up to 600 mm/s; different from the maximum speed of galvo light sources. |
Cutting and Detailed Engraving for Different Processing Needs
CO₂ lasers excel at high-power cutting, while galvo lasers are suitable for fast, detailed engraving. The X1 combines a 55W CO₂ laser with a 20W Diode Galvo (diode galvo) module, enabling both cutting and precision engraving on the same machine.
· 20W Diode Galvo: Capturing Intricate Designs
The 20W Diode Galvo (diode galvo) module offers an engraving speed of up to 6,000 mm/s and a smaller spot size, making it suitable for fast engraving of dense patterns and detailed graphics.
· 55W CO₂: Cutting Thick Materials
The 55W CO₂ light source can be used to cut materials such as wood and transparent acrylic. The manufacturer lists the maximum cutting thickness as 18 mm for basswood and 20 mm for acrylic; actual processing performance will vary depending on the material, settings, and conditions.
LASER SWAP™
Expandable Light Sources for Different Materials
Different materials require different laser characteristics. Based on CO₂ and the 20W Diode Galvo module, the X1 can be further expanded with 5W UV, 60W MOPA, and 30W Fiber via Laser Swap™. You can first choose the configuration based on your current needs and then add light sources as materials, projects, and business needs evolve.
5W UV
Glass, Crystal, and Curved Surface Processing
The 5W UV light source supports glass and crystal processing. The manufacturer states that its glass engraving volume can be up to 12 times that of traditional UV lasers, making it suitable for larger and batch crystal engraving, as well as rotary engraving, glass cutting, and curved surface engraving. These features require the optional UV light source and applicable accessories.
MOPA & FIBER
· Color Metal Engraving, Batch Embossing, and Cutting
The 60W MOPA and 30W Fiber light sources provide metal processing options for the X1, covering large-area color engraving, batch embossing, and metal cutting. The capabilities of the two light sources differ, so they should be selected according to processing needs.
· 60W MOPA Applications
· 30W Fiber Applications
LARGER PROJECTS
Larger Working Area, Supporting Larger-Sized Projects
xTool compares the X1 with a standard Diode Galvo laser: the working area can be up to 4 times larger, the glass engraving volume up to 12 times larger, and the metal embossing area nearly twice as large. The available range varies by light source and processing mode, and glass engraving is also affected by the refractive index and processing depth. Please refer to the individual product specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions FAQ
What is the difference between X1 Single CO₂ and X1 CO₂ + Diode Galvo?
X1 Single CO₂: Equipped with a 55W CO₂ laser head.
X1 CO₂ + Diode Galvo: Equipped with both a 55W CO₂ laser head and a 20W Diode Galvo module.
If you need to add UV, MOPA, or Fiber light sources later, you must first equip the 20W Diode Galvo module. The Single CO₂ version can also have this module purchased and installed later.
How should I choose the X1 laser light source?
- 55W CO₂: Suitable for cutting non-metallic materials such as wood, acrylic, leather, and paper.
- 20W Diode: Suitable for high-speed, fine engraving of materials such as wood, leather, dark acrylic, and cardstock.
- 5W UV: The only light source among X1 light sources that supports glass engraving, also suitable for low-heat fine processing.

How should I choose between the X1 and F Ultra series?
X1: Suitable for creators and small workshops who want to start with CO₂ cutting and engraving, create larger works, and gradually expand into glass and metal processing. The maximum processing speed is 6,000 mm/s.
F Ultra Series: Focuses on higher speeds, specialized processing performance, and portability, suitable for advanced metal and glass processing and mobile personalized production; the series' maximum speed can reach 15,000 mm/s, with actual capabilities depending on the model and configuration.
Why do different light sources and processing modes have different maximum working ranges?
Different light sources have different optical characteristics; glass engraving, bas-relief, and color engraving also have different requirements for focal point control, energy distribution, precision, and stability, so the maximum processing range varies.
X1 balances processing precision, structural limitations, and output quality according to each light source and its applications. When choosing a configuration, please refer to the specifications of the corresponding light source and processing mode.
Is the laser safety level of X1 the same under different configurations?
Not necessarily. The Class 1 safety marking on the official website comes with configuration limitations:
- When installing the X1 5W UV Galvo light source, you may come into contact with Class 3B laser radiation during the optical calibration process.
- When used with the X1 Intelligent Conveyor Feeder, the X1 is a Class 4 laser device.
The above configurations are for use by trained professionals only, and must comply with the safety guidelines and protection requirements specified in the user manual.
