55W CO₂ laser, expanding creative possibilities
From wood and clear acrylic to leather and fabric
The R1 can cut and engrave wood, acrylic (including clear acrylic), leather, fabric, and paper, and can engrave on glass and coated metal surfaces. These materials can be used for lamps, decorations, fashion accessories, and custom creations, highlighting their unique textures and finishes.
Cutting and engraving capabilities vary: glass and coated metals are for engraving only and should not be considered cuttable; bare metal is not supported for direct engraving.
Catalog examples: Prairie Lamp/@Makim、Layered Clock/@Bambu Lab、Techwear Outfit/@lhy1999.Single-pass cutting for thick boards, reducing rework
With optional medium or long-focus lenses, the factory demonstration can cut up to 18 mm black walnut plywood and 20 mm acrylic in a single pass. Focal lengths can be selected based on material thickness and processing needs.
Factory specifications list the maximum cutting capacity for the short-focus lens as 15 mm black walnut plywood / 20 mm acrylic. Wood thickness refers to plywood; actual results depend on material quality, lens choice, and processing parameters.

From tabletop crafts to furniture-sized projects
600 × 300 mm standard workspace
The base R1 unit provides a 600 × 300 mm working area, suitable for sheet cutting, decorative engraving, and batch nesting. For longer components, processing length can be extended with optional accessories.
Optional automatic conveyor for materials up to 3 meters
Paired with the Conveyor and Riser Base, the workspace can be extended to 600 × 3,000 mm, allowing long boards to pass through the machine for applications like floor lamps, tabletops, shelving, and furniture components.

Conveyor and Riser Base are optional; please ensure adequate space for material movement at the front and back.
Automatic optical calibration for easier preparation
Auto Laser Alignment
CO₂ laser beams require reflection mirrors to reach the processing area. The R1 uses a Laser Alignment Sensor mounted on the tool head to measure the beam, detect offsets, and auto-correct, reducing the need for manual test firing and mirror adjustments.
According to factory specifications, the calibration process takes about 1 minute, making optical path maintenance more user-friendly.

TriSense System: Positioning, ranging, and motion tracking
Dual cameras, dual lasers, and dual encoders working in synergy
TriSense integrates workspace imagery, material surface height, and tool head position information to assist with pre-processing positioning and autofocus. The factory-stated positioning accuracy is less than 0.2 mm.

BirdsEye Camera
Captures the entire workspace to help visualize the layout of materials and designs.
Tool Head Camera
Provides a close-up view of the processing area, supporting small object positioning and contour recognition.
Pinpoint & Distance Measurement Lasers
The Pinpoint Laser marks positions on the material, while the Distance Measurement Laser measures surface height to set the focal length.
XY-axis Encoders
Real-time tracking of tool head position provides feedback on motion during processing.
Precision positioning for various surfaces
Drop in your workpiece—whether it is skewed, curved, or small. The R1 locates it, scans the surface, and tracks its every movement, ensuring every line falls exactly where intended. This is the power of TriSense technology.
Curved Surface Height Sensing
Measures surface fluctuations and adjusts focus to maintain clarity in curved surface engraving. Compatibility depends on actual hardware, supported modes, and fixtures.
Transparent Material Positioning
Measures surfaces of glass and clear acrylic, assisting in placing designs accurately; glass is for engraving only.
Fine Positioning for Small Objects
Uses the tool head camera to view small objects, making it easier to align fine patterns and text.
Cutting Along Printed Contours
Identifies pattern boundaries to support contour cutting for prints, stickers, and hand-drawn lines.
Bambu Motion Control, balancing speed and detail
Vibration Compensation for clear lines
Mechanical vibrations can affect line quality when the tool head changes direction quickly. The R1 employs Vibration Compensation to suppress artifacts, improving engraving edges and fine detail.

Up to 1,000 mm/s with speed-synced laser power
The R1 offers speeds up to 1,000 mm/s and accelerations up to 20,000 mm/s². Speed-Synced Laser Power adjusts output based on movement speed to maintain consistent engraving depth and color tone.
Maximum speed does not imply all materials can be cut at the same rate; processing parameters must be set according to material, thickness, design, and quality requirements.

Airflow management and multiple safety features
Crossflow ventilation
Fresh air enters from one side while smoke is exhausted from the other, creating a continuous flow across the chamber.
Optional E1 Pro Air Purifier
The E1 Pro connects directly to the R1 exhaust port, using multi-layer filters and activated carbon to capture smoke, particles, and reduce odors. Sold separately.
Open-lid stop, flame detection, and emergency stop
The laser stops immediately when the lid is opened and remains disabled. Built-in sensors monitor for signs of flame, and an emergency stop button cuts power instantly. Auto-fire suppression requires the separately purchased Auto Fire Extinguishing System.

Software ecosystem and accessory expansion
Bambu Suite software
The R1 uses Bambu Suite, supporting Windows and macOS, and integrates with Bambu accounts and the MakerWorld creative ecosystem.
Autofocus and material recognition
Supports autofocus and auto-material identification; auto-recognition applies only to Bambu Lab official materials and may not cover all third-party materials.
Configure based on needs; accessories are not standard
The Riser Base is necessary for tall workpieces, the Conveyor, and the Rotary Attachment. Medium/long-focus lenses are optional for cutting thicker materials.
Riser Base, Conveyor, Rotary Attachment, specialized lenses, Vision Encoder, E1 Pro, and Fire Extinguishing System are sold separately. Please confirm package contents and availability at purchase.

Accessory functions shown; items pictured are optional; rotary processing support depends on current firmware.
Bambu Lab R1 FAQ
Is the R1 a 3D printer?
No. The R1 is a standalone CO₂ laser engraving/cutting machine that processes surfaces via laser, rather than a filament-based 3D printer.
Can the R1 cut clear acrylic and glass?
Clear acrylic can be cut and engraved. Glass is for engraving only and should not be considered supported for cutting. Please choose processing methods according to material type, thickness, and official parameters.
What accessories are needed to process 3-meter long boards?
You need the optional Conveyor and Riser Base, with sufficient space for material input and output. This setup changes the laser safety class; follow Class 4 safety requirements.
What is the difference between 55W and 780W?
55W refers to the CO₂ laser output power; 780W refers to the maximum power input for the entire machine. They are different specifications.
Does automatic recognition apply to all materials?
No. Auto-recognition applies only to materials officially supported by Bambu Lab; third-party materials require manual confirmation of processing settings.
