Manufacturer application examples. Printed models and other items shown are not included.

Natural Wood Texture

Fine wood powder gives the PLA a subtly grainy, wood-like feel.

Refined Matte Finish

A matte surface helps make layer lines less noticeable.

RFID Identification

Compatible AMS systems can read the filament’s stored print settings.

1 kg with Spool

The filament-with-spool version includes a Basic Reusable Spool.

Before you print:
Dry after opening. PLA Wood contains natural wood powder and is not compatible with a 0.2 mm nozzle. Use one of the supported nozzle options below.

A Natural Wood Look and Feel

PLA Blended with Wood Powder

The wood-filled PLA gives decorative models, trays and miniature furniture a natural-looking material finish. It is a PLA composite containing wood powder, not solid timber.

A Matte Finish with Finer-Looking Layers

Less Shine, More Texture

The matte finish softens the appearance of layer lines on curves and decorative details. The final surface still depends on the model and print settings.

Combine Wood Accents with Other PLA

Mix Colours and Surface Finishes

Combine PLA Wood with Bambu PLA Basic or PLA Matte to place wood-like accents alongside other colours in one model. Configure multicolour printing for your printer, material system and filament profiles.

AMS, RFID and Hardware Compatibility

Simplify Material Setup with RFID

The filament’s RFID stores printing parameters for a compatible Bambu AMS system to read. Drying and correct nozzle and build plate selection are still required.

Hardware reference
AMS compatibility Listed as compatible with all AMS series on the Asia product page; use a feeding configuration supported by your printer.
Hardened steel nozzle 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 mm
Stainless steel nozzle 0.4 mm
Unsupported nozzle 0.2 mm
Build plates Cool Plate SuperTack, Smooth PEI Plate, Textured PEI Plate
Adhesive Bambu Liquid Glue / Glue Stick; follow the build plate instructions.
Wood-filled filament can clog very small nozzles. Slower printing does not make a 0.2 mm nozzle a supported option.

Drying, Storage and Print Settings

Dry After Opening, Then Store Airtight

Natural wood powder makes PLA Wood more moisture-sensitive. Factory drying and vacuum packaging do not remove the need to dry it after opening, as transport and storage can affect moisture levels.

Reseal with desiccant immediately after use. Keep printing and storage humidity below 20% RH, and dry again as needed after prolonged storage.

Recommended printing and drying settings (TDS V1.0)
Forced-air drying oven 55°C for 8 hours
X1-series heatbed drying 65–75°C for 12 hours; follow the manufacturer’s X1 drying procedure only.
Printing / storage humidity < 20% RH; sealed with desiccant.
Nozzle temperature 190–240°C
PEI bed temperature 35–45°C with glue; TDS V1.0 reference setting.
Cooling fan On
Printing speed < 250 mm/s
Retraction length 0.6–1.0 mm
Retraction speed 20–40 mm/s
Chamber temperature 25–45°C
Settings note: These TDS values are not universal settings for every plate or device. Follow the specific temperature and adhesive instructions for Cool Plate SuperTack. Do not apply the X1 heatbed drying temperature to a drying oven. The manufacturer excludes microwave and kitchen ovens for drying.

Important Usage Notes

Use and storage:
Print in a well-ventilated area, or use effective filtration or extraction. PLA Wood is not a food-contact-grade material; do not use printed parts to hold or directly contact food. Keep filament and fragments away from young children and pets. Store cool, dry and out of sunlight, away from heat.

Bambu Lab PLA Wood FAQ

Is PLA Wood made entirely from wood?

No. It is a blend of PLA and natural wood powder, designed for a wood-like appearance and feel rather than the properties of solid timber.

Should I dry a newly opened spool?

Yes. Transport and storage can affect moisture levels. The manufacturer recommends drying after opening; the forced-air oven reference setting is 55°C for 8 hours.

Can I use a 0.2 mm nozzle?

No. The manufacturer lists it as incompatible. Supported options are 0.4 mm stainless steel and 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 mm hardened steel nozzles.

Can it be used in AMS or AMS lite?

Yes. The Asia product page lists compatibility with all AMS series. The material system must still be connected in a configuration supported by your printer.

Will a colour look identical in every print?

Natural wood powder and drying conditions can create slight colour differences. Screen swatches are references, not a guarantee of the appearance of every batch or print.

Can I print tableware or food containers?

No. PLA Wood is not a food-contact-grade material. Printed parts should not directly contact or hold food.
