FAQ
What materials can xTool M2 work with? What materials can the inkjet module print on?
M2 supports printing, cutting, and engraving on various materials like paper, fabric, wood, leather, acrylic, and metal, depending on the module used. Never laser cut PVC, PC, or leather and foam materials with unknown composition. Please check the…M2 Material Getting Started Cheat Sheetfor detailed compatibility and safety information.
The inkjet module can print on fabric, board, printing paper, and similar materials. However, it cannot print on very dense or smooth surfaces such as metal, glass, and ceramic, as the ink cannot effectively penetrate or adhere. With an appropriate ink-absorbing coating applied to these materials, printing is possible.
How long does the CMYK ink last? How to replace it?
Ink life depends on your usage frequency. With 5% coverage under ISO/IEC 24712 standards, a single ink cartridge prints approximately 400 pages.
To extend ink life:
- Adjust ink density settings based on material type
- Always replace the ink cap after use
To replace cartridges: The ink is not refillable. Please purchase new cartridges and follow the replacement instructions in the user manual.
Do I need a riser base to engrave cylindrical objects like tumblers?
The M2's horizontal laser output can engrave objects from 0-100mm, such as tumblers, balls, and rings – no riser base required.
Do I have to buy an air purifier?
For regular laser use, we recommend the xTool Desktop Air Purifier as a cost-effective choice. For frequent cutting or materials with strong odors, we recommend the SafetyPro™ AP2 Air Purifier, which offers stronger filtration and better odor removal.
How to avoid laser burn marks when cutting paper?
To reduce laser energy transfer and prevent yellowing edges on paper:
· Use a metal honeycomb base.
· Or create a hollow wooden backing board to minimize paper contact with the workbench.
These methods help dissipate laser energy and reduce burn marks.
Does M2 require an external air assist?
No, the M2 has a built-in air pump that delivers the same clean results as an external one. Users can adjust the air pump's output power according to specific engraving or cutting needs.
Note: The M2 does not have an external air port and therefore does not support connecting a third-party air pump.
I already own an RA3. Can I use it with the xTool M2?
