LP5 Setup
Setting up the LP5 is relatively simple. First, use the provided screws to secure the electric stand to the base plate.
Next, mount the LP5 unit itself onto the stand.
You will then need to install the protective cover; in some cases, you may need to turn on the laser and lift it to create space.
Once set up, connect the fan cable to the back of the engraver using one of the provided wires to link the laser to the electric stand.

– Safety key. Finally, insert one of the USB safety keys to enable the laser.
The LaserPecker unit comes with two keys in case one is lost, so be sure to keep them in a safe place.
Installing the Slide Extension Kit and Rotary Axis Attachment
For the slide extension kit, attach the two cutting mats to the base unit.
Once ready, place the extension and connect it to the back of the laser using the included USB cable.

For the rotary axis attachment, use the provided screws to secure the rotary unit to the base plate.
Depending on your project, install the jaws or stud assembly, then slide the tailstock support onto the rail. Once secured, you're ready to go.

LP5 Connectivity
Overall, the LP5 setup is very quick and easy.
You can connect the device to a PC with a USB cable or set up WiFi using the mobile app.
With a WiFi connection, you can connect the LP5 wirelessly to your device.
Additionally, for embossing projects, it is best to use USB mode as files are larger and difficult to transfer via WiFi, which can cause issues during the process.
LP5 Hardware Design
The LP5 follows the sleek style of previous LaserPecker designs, maintaining an aesthetic and concise appearance but with a larger footprint.
Although slightly heavier, the LP5 remains portable and stands out with its inclusion of both a 20W diode laser and a fiber laser.

Accessory Kit
The accessory kit includes several very useful accessories, such as a slide extension kit for processing larger workpieces and a rotary axis attachment with tilt function, making it easier to engrave hard-to-reach areas.
A base plate for cutting operations is also included, and it is recommended to use it to prevent leaving marks or damaging the LP5's base.
Protective Cover, Fan, and Cooling
The LP5 features a secure protective cover and a powerful exhaust fan, including a retractable hose.
You can connect it to an external ventilation system or vent it out a window.
The fan effectively removes dust or debris generated during embossing or engraving.

Due to the strict cooling requirements of the fiber laser, the LP5 operates with a relatively loud volume.
While many companies opt for liquid cooling systems, LaserPecker has ingeniously designed a more stable and portable solution with a large heat sink cooled by powerful fans.
Despite some noise during operation, this cooling is highly beneficial for the laser, maintaining its temperature during long engraving or embossing sessions.

LaserPecker Design Space (LDS)
LaserPecker offers its own software, LaserPecker Design Space (LDS), available for PC, Android, iOS, and macOS.
The PC version is the most practical and user-friendly, being easier to use and more feature-rich compared to some mobile apps that sometimes lack certain functionalities. Therefore, the PC version is recommended.

If you are using the LaserPecker LP5 for the first time, you will need to connect it via USB and click "Connect."
Once connected, navigate to device settings to configure WiFi, enabling wireless operation.
LDS includes everything needed for cutting, engraving, and embossing, with a simple layout that places all settings on the right side of the screen and provides a large workspace.

Processing Various Materials
Brass Coin Embossing
Set power to 100%, depth to 30%, frequency to 26%, and layer height to 0.01 mm. Each coin took less than 5 hours to produce.
For post-processing after embossing, a cleaning was performed with settings adjusted to 50% power and 4% depth. This helped remove some residue.

Brass Pendant Engraving
Using the fiber laser, set resolution to 8K, frequency to 26, power to 50%, and depth to 35%.
The engraving process took less than five minutes, resulting in a stunning piece with a unique and eye-catching design.

Slate Engraving
Set laser frequency to 26, power to 40%, depth to 30%, and resolution to 8K, using the fiber laser.
The smaller slate took approximately 40 minutes, while the larger one took over 5 hours to complete.

Basswood Engraving
Engraved logos onto wooden keychains using the diode laser at 50% power and 25% depth.
The logos were engraved at 1K and took approximately 4 minutes, with a very good, clear, and sharp finish.

LP5 Settings
Compared to most lasers on the market, the LP5 uses slightly different settings.
For the diode laser, key settings include Power, Passes, and Depth.
Increasing depth slows down the operation, while decreasing depth speeds it up.
For the fiber laser, you need to adjust settings such as LaserFrequency, Passes, Power, and Depth.
Depending on the material you are engraving, you may also have to set the duration, which determines how long the laser stays on each point (in milliseconds).
Higher duration values generally correspond to slower engraving speeds.
A very useful section on the LaserPecker officialwebsite is the material settings for all LaserPecker machines. It's worth researching materials and settings before planning a project.
