【3D Printing】Unboxing the Bambu Lab H2C AMS Combo!

3dmart is an authorized dealer for Bambu Lab. Welcome to visit our store and see the H2C in action!
The H2C is the latest iteration of Bambu Lab's H-series 3D printers. The previously released H2D in this series created quite a buzz.
The H2D was a large-format, dual-extruder, fully enclosed printer featuring a tool-changing module and capable of processing a wide range of materials.
The subsequent H2S simplified operation with a single extruder design, yet still achieved large-scale printing with a larger print size at a lower cost.

拓竹H2C

The H2C now expands this ecosystem by offering a multi-nozzle tool-changing print head.
It essentially uses the same hardware as other H-series printers, with the biggest difference being the addition of a module on the right side of the machine.
Opening the module reveals six additional nozzles that can be frequently swapped into the tool head to accommodate different filaments, eliminating the need for frequent cleaning of materials as with previous systems.

The H2C was captivating from the start, with the entire setup process taking about 20 minutes, including loading each print head into the magnetic holders, installing the AMS, and the second spool of filament, yet it was still very straightforward.
As always, Bambu Lab provides a detailed manual to guide users.

Unboxing the H2C
The H2C looks almost identical to the H2D and H2S. The real change is in the tool head.
It comes with the usual fixed nozzle on the left, fed by an external input (typically, one filament is fixed on the spool holder on the left).

The right side is equipped with a nozzle fed by the AMS.
This nozzle can access five additional nozzles via the Vortek system located on the right side of the machine.
It's this new system that has everyone excited, as it's distinctly different from the multi-function tool head designs we've seen from other brands.

拓竹H2C

Essentially, the H2C uses one nozzle per filament instead of one print head per filament.
The nozzle on the right is used for loading and unloading filament, with the filament being loaded or removed through the nozzle.
After loading, there will still be a retraction and purging process, but since each filament has its own nozzle, the amount of purging is significantly reduced.

This system also means you can use some nozzles for frequently used filaments and others for less frequently used filaments.
For example, if you are printing a 12-color pattern, you can connect 3 AMS nozzles to the right tool head, assign the main color to the left nozzle, the second, third, and fourth most used filaments to the first three nozzles of the Vortek system, and then assign the remaining eight colors to the remaining three nozzles of the Vortek system.
While these nozzles still need to be cleaned like the H2D nozzles, cleaning is limited to less frequently used filaments, which helps speed up overall printing.

The original H2C package includes 4 Vortek 0.4mm inductive hotends, 1 0.2mm hotend, and 1 0.6mm hotend.
You can also choose to equip it with an AMS2 Pro and a 40W or 20W laser combo, or purchase additional hotends.

The H2C hotend looks very similar to the one used on the H2D.
The only difference is that it now features the Vortek automatic hotend changing system, and each hotend is held in place by a brand new mechanism.
This allows for automatic and rapid hotend changes within the machine without manual intervention.
The Vortek system is essentially a clever hotend mounting system installed on the right side of the machine.
When you perform the initial configuration, the system will ask you to install each hotend first and show you the process of each nozzle rising and lowering in its holder.

The H2C machine itself is equipped with a 5-inch color touchscreen, which will be very convenient if you have used Bambu Lab printers before.
Even if it's your first time, this user interface is extremely simple and easy to use, and you'll get the hang of it quickly.

The design and craftsmanship of the H2C once again demonstrate its excellent quality, built for the professional market.
The entire casing is made of glass and metal, showcasing a high-end texture.
Since the entire unit is fully sealed, it has an enclosed space with controllable temperature and automatic ventilation.
This allows you to print a variety of materials in an optimal environment, including PLA without opening the top cover or door.

Installing the H2C
Installing the H2C takes approximately 20 minutes. In fact, during installation, once all internal packaging is removed, all you really need to do is plug in the AMS and install the new nozzles used on the right side of the tool head.
The AMS connection is the same as with other Bambu models: simply plug it into the back, connect a tube to the inlet, and then connect a data cable between the machine and the AMS Pro.

External filament is connected to the left nozzle via a spool holder located at the back of the unit, which clips into place and extends from the left side.
If you want to use the AMS HT external drying box, you can place it next to the machine and use a longer tube to feed the filament. Everything is very convenient and simple.

The installation of the H2C's magnetic nozzles is very straightforward.
The nozzles are individually packaged and simply click into place.
There are two holes inside the print head that align with two pins on each nozzle holder, ensuring each nozzle is securely installed on the Vortek system.

After completing the above steps, simply run the setup program. Once calibration is complete, you can open Bambu Studio. Load the model, synchronize filament and nozzles.
If you've used Bambu Lab printers before, you'll know that it uses RFID tags on filament spools to automatically identify loaded filament, enabling filament synchronization.
The operating process is exactly the same. Just synchronize your filaments, and they will appear automatically without manual input. If you are using third-party filament, you can enter it manually through the settings options.

The nozzles work almost identically; just synchronize them, and they will be automatically recognized.
You'll be prompted to synchronize, then a quick calibration procedure will run, and you're essentially ready to go.
Loading print files is the same as with any other Bambu printer.
You can quickly send 3D print files to the machine remotely, and the machine will return to a clear live view, allowing you to monitor print progress and ensure everything is running smoothly.

拓竹H2C

The best thing about the H2C is its filament usage. Compared to the other two machines in the H series, it can save a considerable amount of filament; the H2C wastes less than half the filament of the H2D, and almost a third of the H2S.
Therefore, if you run a business, using the H2C can significantly reduce filament costs.

Efficient and Economical Multi-color and Multi-material Applications
The Vortek hotend system is truly innovative. Compared to the H2D or H2S, it requires almost no purging for hotend changes.
You can use a wide variety of materials, so whether you're a high-end hobbyist, a small business, or a print farm, it can handle everything from standard PLA materials to nylon, carbon fiber-filled materials, and almost any other specialty material you can think of.

拓竹H2C

This print chamber can be heated up to 65°C, combined with a 350°C hotend, providing you with great flexibility when printing.
In addition, the AMS system not only supports the seven different filaments currently available out of the box, but can also support up to 24 filaments by adding more AMS units.

Many people's vision for this machine, and the most pressing question, is: can it reduce material waste?
The answer is yes, while it cannot be completely eliminated, it can have a significant impact.

拓竹H2C

The H2C is a truly innovative and outstanding machine. It takes a different approach from most manufacturers, using multiple nozzles instead of tool heads.
If you're already in the Bambu ecosystem, then this printer is perfect for you.
It's ideal for studios, engineers, prototypers, or anyone who needs a high-quality printer that can produce beautiful prints and is compatible with a wide range of different materials.
