"Tiger God" (Huye) is a deity in Taiwanese folk religion, depicted as a tiger. Initially, it served as a mount for various deities such as mountain gods, earth gods, city gods, and Mazu. Now, it is also a representative guardian deity for children and merchants.
Starting in 2020, the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, causing a global downturn. Taiwanese artist Fang Chih-wei created the artwork "The Golden Flower Tiger God" using traditional Japanese pigment painting (膠彩) and silk (絹本) as mediums, in the image of the Tiger God. He hoped to bring warmth, positive energy, comfort, and good fortune to people.
We are very honored that 3DMart collaborated with designer Fang Chih-wei. Through 3D printing and 3D scanning technology, this auspicious figure, embodying "fortune, prosperity, and longevity," will be transformed into a physical metal model!
First, the initial shape of the Tiger God was sculpted, and a 3D scanner was used to convert the model into a 3D digital file. Then, SLA 3D printing technology was employed to quickly test various finished product effects at a low cost.
After the preparatory work was complete, metal 3D printing technology and titanium alloy material were used to complete the final model of the Tiger God. Following the metal painting process, the colors were applied to this metal Tiger God according to designer Fang Chih-wei's original flat artwork, resulting in a perfect recreation as if it stepped out of the painting!
After six months of conceptualization and production, "The Golden Flower Tiger God" made of titanium alloy was born hot. It successfully met everyone as scheduled at the "2020 Taiwan International 3D Show" held in August of this year (click here to review the exhibition), and is continuously being promoted to the world through the Tang Wan Art Center!
The shape of the Tiger God's ears is like an eternal flame, and within the flame is the character "壽" (shòu), symbolizing longevity. May everyone overcome the pandemic and enjoy lasting peace and health.
