[3D Printing News] GVSU Library - Gathering Emerging 3D Printing Technologies

The Atomic Object Technology Showcase in the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons at Grand Valley State University,
is an initiative by the Information Technology department to provide faculty, staff, and students with an immersive and engaging environment to interact, discover, learn, and share how to
enhance teaching and improve student learning with innovative technology at GVSU.

When the Showcase opened in the fall of 2013, the ultimate goal was to provide the campus community with an innovative space featuring the latest technology. The Showcase offers exploration of 3D printing,
augmented reality, virtual reality, gestural computing, and mobile computing.
In addition, it is dedicated to promoting the application of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
The concept of this space is needed to allow Grand Valley State University students and staff to interact and learn about innovative educational technologies, making the Atomic Object Technology Showcase
a pathway for learning.
As technology continues to change our world, the focus is on utilizing technology in the classroom. From the beginning, 3D printing has been a significant technology that has positively impacted the educational experience at Grand Valley State University. Currently, the Showcase is using Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended + to serve our campus community.

Our small but powerful "Maker Showcase" provides a centralized location for all disciplines to utilize 3D printing, integrating it into curricula to create innovative opportunities.
Across various disciplines, the Showcase provides 3D projects for departments such as Marketing, Engineering, Art, and Medical Sciences.
Whether these projects are for new product development or artwork, this Showcase can provide students with the 3D capabilities they need.
Thanks to the 3D printing resources provided by the Showcase, innovative education is flourishing at Grand Valley State University.
