The Ultimaker S5 3D printer has won the prestigious iF Design Award. With its user-friendly features and interface, Ultimaker, together with design agency GRO Design, received the iF Product Award at the ceremony held in Munich, Germany on March 15.
The "Oscars of the Design World"
The German iF Design Award (iF Product Design Award), established in 1953, is an international product design award. Each year, over 2,000 products from around the world are submitted, making it the equivalent of the "Oscars of the product design world." For 65 years, the iF Design Award has represented quality assurance and honored outstanding design. Products are divided into seven categories: Product, Packaging, Communication, Interior Architecture, Professional Concept, Service Design/User Experience, and Architecture. This year, the jury responsible for identifying the best designs was composed of 67 design experts from around the world, and Ultimaker was one of over 6,400 entries from 50 countries. All iF Design Award winners, including the Ultimaker S5, will be featured in this year's iF World Design Guide.
"I think the iF Award is actually one of the most prestigious awards in the world because it is consistently recognized by numerous international designers," emphasized juror Damian Mackiewicz from Harman International Industries in the United States, highlighting the immense value for a designer to have their product design evaluated by global talent.
