Easily 3D print from your phone or tablet
We are passionate about making 3D printing as simple as possible. The Ultimaker 3 app is designed to give you more mobility, allowing you to remotely start and monitor print progress, all from your mobile device.
● Track progress. The Ultimaker 3 comes with a Live camera, so you can monitor 3D prints from your smartphone or tablet.
● Start prints. You don’t even need to be in the same room to 3D print. As long as your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Ultimaker 3, you can start printing.
● Slice models. Thanks to our online slicing service, you can now slice models from your phone or tablet.
● STL and g-code. Currently, the app supports STL and g-code files.
Ultimaker continuously strives to improve your 3D printing experience. Therefore, we will continue to work on our app, which will expand further in the future to include push notifications, more dual material profiles, and remote control capabilities.
Use your Ultimaker 3 app in just 6 simple steps!
1. Connect your Ultimaker 3. When you first open the app, you will need to search for and connect your 3D printer. The Ultimaker 3 printer supports network connectivity (please note that your mobile device must be connected to the same local network as the Ultimaker 3) and can be easily connected to the printer. You just need to select the correct model from the list of found printers, or manually search for the IP address.
2. Load 3D models. The app allows you to open 3D model files in STL format, as well as ready-made g-code. All you need to do is upload the STL file to cloud storage (such as Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) or use the file manager on your device. Then open the file from the app and use the 3D preview function to check if it is the correct model.
3. Configure materials. This screen provides all the information you need to know about which material configurations the app supports. Currently, printing can be done with PLA, Nylon, CPE, and ABS, as well as water-soluble PVA. Please note that PVA can only be used with the second extruder (in combination with PLA). The app continuously checks if the printer is loaded with material. This means that if you need to change your configuration, the app will automatically detect your changes.
4. 3D printing settings. There are various settings that can be adjusted in the app. Select the best print quality profile in the first column, toggle the brim function option, and then decide if your print needs supports to prevent it from sagging or printing in mid-air. This method of control is truly easy!
5. Slice prints. Your 3D model will be uploaded to our cloud slicing service platform developed specifically for mobile applications. Here, you can view the uploaded file, as well as the slicing and download process.
6. Monitor your Ultimaker 3. In monitoring mode, you will see the current status and progress of the print. You can choose to intervene at any time by pausing or aborting the print (if necessary). What if you need to see the printing process in more detail? Simply watch the screen to monitor the build process of each layer (currently only on iOS). The app will also show how much print progress is left and how long it will take. You don't need to be in the same room to check your print. As long as you are connected to the same wireless network as your Ultimaker 3D printer, you can check your progress in real-time, no matter where you are.
The Ultimaker 3 app allows you to remotely control your 3D printer (and monitor its progress) directly from your phone or tablet.
