【3D Printing Application】3D Printed Surprise Egg! A Tiny Articulated Excavator Pops Out!

We all ate Kinder Surprise eggs as kids, and 3DMart is now printing its own adult version of a 3D printed surprise egg! It doesn't require support structures, is only the size of a 10-dollar coin, and the excavator's parts can move! Let's take a look:

This time, we used an Ultimaker S5 with a 0.25mm nozzle for 3D printing. The printing time was approximately 3 hours, and PLA was used as the material. Since the Ultimaker S5 uses a dual-nozzle system, when printing with a single material, we can also use PVA for the contact surface of the print bed, resulting in a finer surface finish.

If you are using a single-nozzle 3D printer, you can still print this! The only difference is that the contact surface between the excavator and the print bed will be flatter and sharper. Thanks to the clever design of the original creator, this mini excavator does not require support material, and its structure can still rotate.

To test it for everyone, we also didn't use support material on the structure, and it worked! The printed excavator is very flexible; in addition to the robotic arm and wheels being able to rotate, the body can even rotate left and right!

Of course, we can't miss the eggshell part, which also features an articulated structure that doesn't require support. After printing, you can retract the excavator and place it inside the eggshell. There's a small buckle on top of the eggshell that, when pressed, prevents it from popping open.

Just how tiny is this excavator? All its structures combined take up only 2.5 square centimeters! It fits perfectly on a ten-dollar coin, and we used the coin as a reference to give you a real sense of its size.

Isn't it exciting? A new year, new toys, and definitely some surprises; here's the file link below, so quickly print it with your 3D printer! If you don't have your own 3D printer yet, we also offer 3D printing services using major brand machines, providing you with the same high quality!

We will continue to share new information and practical tests related to 3D printing, and all the latest news will be posted on our Facebook page!
