【3D Printing Application】Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extruder Arrives! Supports Multiple Materials, High-Quality 20mm³/s Flow Rate!
Snapmaker announced the Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module in September 2022. Good news for those who previously used single extruders! Your creativity will no longer be limited!

Supports over 10 types of filaments
Dual extrusion opens up a whole new world! Exquisite print quality, fine details. Combine objects with PVA and TPU, like a curious child exploring a new world!
Both independent nozzles can heat up to 300°C, allowing for a wider range of materials. We all know how painful it is to remove support material! Don't let it ruin your enthusiasm. You can load a spool of water-soluble PVA filament, and it will dissolve in water, leaving a beautiful finished product just as envisioned. You can even do the same with HIPS and breakaway support filaments, achieving more with less effort!
Additionally, the nozzles can be easily detached within 5 seconds, and engineering materials such as PA-CF and PA-GF can also be added to the software. Luban will automatically identify the nozzles you're using and prepare the print parameters for immediate use.
Note: When purchasing the Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module, it comes with a 500g spool of breakaway filament and a filament holder. Enjoy the fun of multi-material printing!

Perfect extrusion, 20mm³/s flow rate, and high-quality printed objects
Everyone wonders about the print quality after switching to a dual extruder. This is related to the internal structure of the module, featuring a 7.5:1 planetary gear that transmits power from the motor with greater torque. This allows for the use of a relatively small motor to achieve the required pulling force. By shedding unnecessary weight, the print head's movement is reduced at the same acceleration, maintaining the same printing accuracy as a single extruder module.
Four-fan cooling system for heatsinks and prints
Besides removing supports, the second pain point is picking out tiny bits of filament from a jammed nozzle. Each hotend has a dedicated fan that blows the required air from the blower, preventing the filament from melting prematurely in the heatsink. Another set of fans located on the right and left sides at the bottom keeps the nozzles and the printed objects cool. So, whether you are printing an overhanging object, or materials like ABS, PA, etc., you can adjust the fan speed yourself.

3s electronic driven hotend switching
On other dual extrusion printers, switching can be time-consuming. How does Snapmaker manage to have two nozzles in one module? Initially, the entire module would be lifted, bumped on a lever, and the nozzle could be removed. But every time the nozzle needed to switch to the other, it would make a strange noise, which wasn't a good user experience. Therefore, an effective method is to use a motor for switching. When your G-code tells the motor to change the hotend, the motor will instruct the linear rail to do the heavy lifting. Then the nozzle is swapped, and the printing process can continue. This can be done in 3 seconds with a repeat accuracy of 0.012mm.
Compatibility with various nozzle sizes
To achieve faster printing speeds, you can adjust some parameters for nozzle size in Luban. Print the shell with a 0.2mm nozzle at a lower speed, making it not only strong but also aesthetically pleasing. Use a 0.6mm or 0.8mm nozzle for infills, which will be much faster. The touchscreen also allows for adjusting parameters like print speed, temperature, and flow rate again during the printing process.
Auto-Leveling
Suppose you lose your calibration card, don't worry. On your heated bed, from the first point to the last, the sensor module automatically collects data for each positioning point. You also don't need to worry about Z-axis height calibration, as the photoelectric switch will take care of that. The Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module has proximity switches and photoelectric switches. However, the photoelectric switch is only for Z-offset calibration. If the photoelectric switch were used for mesh bed leveling, the Snapmaker 2.0 platform would slightly deform after the nozzle touches the build plate, reducing the accuracy of mesh bed leveling. Glass plates are only compatible with 2.0 for manual leveling.
Power Loss and Filament Run-out Recovery
The Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module supports power loss and filament run-out recovery. Follow the instructions on the touchscreen to resume your ongoing print job. If only one nozzle is used for printing, once filament run-out is detected, the active nozzle will stop working, while the inactive nozzle will not interrupt the machine. If both nozzles are used for printing, the machine will shut down once filament run-out is detected in either nozzle.
