"ACM SIGGRAPH 2018" is an innovative exhibition for emerging technologies such as CG, animation, VR, and games. This year, it attracted 15,000 professionals from various fields to Vancouver, Canada. Not only did it gather the world's top academic researchers to present their latest findings, but it also attracted numerous manufacturers to showcase related technologies; of course, the latest Ultimaker and 3D printing technologies were also present.

The Ultimaker North America team, along with local partners and professional CAD business partners, presented Ultimaker software, hardware, latest filaments, and application cases at workshops for computer graphic artists, designers, architects, and engineers. In addition to announcing significant research advancements and technological developments in 3D printing and additive manufacturing, it also met the growing needs of design studios and digital artists, allowing them to better understand desktop 3D printing technology.

At this workshop, which aimed to facilitate interaction and showcase cutting-edge technology, Matthew Griffin and Liz Arum brought the engine design game that Ultimaker has shared with educators since the fall of 2017. This setup included a studio, printer, and professional CAD representation, inspiring participants to create their own original designs.

The event, which began in 1974, brings together technology experts, shares research, and the latest technologies, and will continue to drive creativity, research, design, and technological development in the coming years.
Since its launch, this project has involved students, teachers, and private groups, with the aim of inspiring self-training and guiding them to create their own original works through prompts, rather than directly using preset templates. Teachers can also motivate students through the 3D printing production process.
They specially prepared the SIGGRAPH version of the design engine, which is a series of challenges for the SIGGRAPH Studio. Participants from different backgrounds joined small creative competitions and then used the design tools provided in the SIGGRAPH Studio Workshop to develop their final products.

Leading CAD trainers—including Rhino experts Mary and Theo Fig from McNeel & Associates, and Jeff Smith from Autodesk's Fusion360—provided demonstrations and tutorials, and answered 3D design-related questions on site.
Software users particularly appreciated this opportunity to directly ask challenging CAD questions to experts and to ask the Ultimaker team about best practices for producing these designs on Ultimaker hardware.

Attendees also had the opportunity to utilize existing Ultimaker educational resource binders and on-site giveaways to obtain more installation packages, including SolidWorks, Tinkercad, OpenSCAD, Blender, and ZBrush.
In addition to Ultimaker's hands-on experience in the SIGGRAPH Studio area, we also co-exhibited at the Wacom booth in the SIGGRAPH Technology Expo area, where Ultimaker's latest model, the Ultimaker S5, also became a focal point.

We are delighted to see the successful conclusion of Ultimaker's event this year.
