【Event Review】Sponsored National Taiwan University Makerthon: Bambu Lab 3D Printer Design Competition to Improve Life
We are delighted to sponsor the Makerthon event organized by National Taiwan University, which aims to encourage innovation and improve quality of life. This event will combine hardware implementation, software development, and product design, allowing participants to realize their creative ideas in a short period and create practical products that are relevant to daily life.
Makerthon Event Overview
The main awards are divided into four categories: "Best Application," "Best Creativity," "Best Maker," and "Best Solver." The judges will score the entries from 0 to 10 based on four aspects: "prototype implementation," "technological application," "creative ideation," and "applicability."
The judging criteria for the 2024 competition are:
- Prototype Implementation: Completeness of the overall system design (hardware structure, software, soft-hardware integration), and its relevance to the event theme (ExplorEr).
- Technicality: Ability to utilize development boards, integrate various electronic components, skillfully use different types of machinery and instruments, and whether the most feasible technology is applied to solve problems and demonstrate practical ability.
- Creative Ideation: The problem solved or the application of technology is refreshing, proposing uniquely creative ideas.
- Applicability: Whether the work can practically solve real-life problems, contribute to society, and its potential for commercialization, such as the practicality of the product, whether there is a sufficient customer base, production costs, differentiation from other products, quality, etc.
3D PrinterCompetitionObjective Requirements
The competition lasted 24 hours, with 43 teams in total. With only 4 machines available on site, and after accounting for buffer and setup time, each team could have an average of 1 hour of printing time. This means that the 3D printers used in the competition needed to have extremely high stability and high-efficiency printing to meet the students' needs in achieving their desired creations within the time limit.

1. Multi-material compatibility

During the competition, staff members are usually very busy. Through remote control and monitoring of printing tasks, one laptop can simultaneously monitor the status of four 3D printers. Mobile phones can also provide notifications to alert you when printing is successful so you can immediately remove the print, or if printing failed and why.
On-site personnel can effectively distribute their efforts to assist with other tasks, without having to constantly monitor the 3D printers.
