Theo is a famous designer in London. This project requires him to design a Nordic-style chair, and the client has very high demands for texture quality. How did he meet all customized needs within a limited budget?
First, Theo used 3D modeling software to design the shape of the chair and created a sample model with a 3D printer. To simulate various surface textures, he placed the 3D-printed chair model into the FormBox vacuum forming machine and quickly replicated ten identical molds!
Place the 3D-printed sample face down into the FormBox. The heated FormBox white sheets will adhere to and vacuum-form the back of the model. After demolding, the sheet will take on the curved shape of the chair.
Next, use an ultrasonic cutter to cut the vacuum-formed sheet along the chair's shape, and spray the sheet with the color specified by the client. Then, Theo performed post-processing such as glazing and sanding on the cut sheets, attempting to design 10 different surface textures, including matte and glossy finishes.
