We are constantly experimenting with new things for our customers. The main material used for the car body this time is PLA, which is very easy to print and resistant to warping, providing a good surface finish for the object. It can also be used with Cura slicing software to achieve the best finished product quality. In addition to Ultimaker machines, it is also suitable for other FDM machines, making it the most economical choice among common materials, so you can print without worry or heartache.
This time we used a Bugatti sports car model. You can see many exquisite details on the engine in the picture. Let's take on the challenge now!
Since PLA filament can be easily paired with PVA on the Ultimaker 3 for the main body and support, this printing process involved many applications of water-soluble supports. The picture shows the finished car hood.
This time, we mainly used single-color printing and then assembled the entire model after printing. The total time to complete the parts was about two weeks (because the printing schedule was full, we had to find free slots to print~). Fortunately, we have many types of machines, so the larger parts could be completed by the Ultimaker S5. Finally, the assembled tires are also a great success!
The assembled car body looks absolutely stunning! We chose an orange and black color scheme. You can choose your favorite filament colors when printing.
The engine details are also clearly printed.
