【3D SCANNING】Recreating Porsche's Out-of-Production Sports Cars, Peel 3D Reverse Engineering is Twice as Fast!
Recreating Porsche's out-of-production sports cars! The Peel 3D scanner efficiently replicates designs twice as fast. Porsche is a German automobile manufacturer with worldwide recognition, producing and selling a large number of sports cars, SUVs, and sedans globally. To recreate the exterior of classic car models, Porsche combines 3D printing, 3D scanning, and CNC milling engineering technologies for this major project!
Recreating car models that are about to go out of production presents certain difficulties. In the past, car structures and parts were mostly made of steel. To reproduce them now, the difficulty, time, and cost are all very high. Traditional manufacturing of car parts involved making them directly on the car body and repeatedly using the finished product to replicate the mold, but the process was chaotic and complex, and consistent accuracy could not be guaranteed.
Industrial designer Patrick Nguyen and his design team, Patritti Design Performance, specialize in using composite materials to replicate and produce car body panels. This time, they collaborated with the Peel 3D scanning team to participate in this intricate large-scale reverse engineering project that requires extremely refined skills.
"The Peel 3D scanner can not only 3D scan large objects and accurately capture the subtle, geometric, and streamlined shapes of cars, but Peel 3D's dedicated post-processing software also features precise editing functions and professional algorithms, which can quickly generate smooth, non-rough model surfaces," said Patrick Nguyen.
Most cars have symmetrical exteriors. When creating car models using a Peel 3D scanner, you only need to scan the right side of the car body. Then, by executing the "mirror" function, the left side of the car model will be generated immediately. The operation is very simple, doubling work efficiency! For reflective metal car bodies and parts, you can also pre-spray with 3D scanning spray powder to ensure smooth 3D scanning. Finally, after converting the car model generated by reverse engineering into a CAD model, technologies such as 3D printing and CNC milling are used. Material types are selected according to demand, and then mass production is carried out, successfully saving manufacturing time and production costs. This creates infinite benefits for enterprises in industrial applications.
