【Vacuum Forming Application】Artisan Chocolate Shop: No More Relying on External Mold Manufacturers!
Paul A. Young is renowned for their artisan chocolates. This chocolate chain, originating in Islington, UK, creates chocolates with true craftsmanship, using small batches of fresh ingredients at every stage. To explore more creative variations, they began using the Mayku FormBox and a 3D printer to create molds for a series of geometric chocolates.
"Using the FormBox vacuum former frees me from having to travel to mold factories. I can repeatedly experiment with chocolate molding effects and produce artistic products. It's incredibly fast, allows me to test my ideas instantly, and create customized molds to meet customer needs," emphasized founder Paul A. Young.

New Molds, New Challenges
Paul wanted to design a new series of handmade chocolates for his shop. Currently, most of the chocolates are produced directly in the kitchens of various branches, and he hoped to expand this approach to design and testing. They could use a 3D printer to test new designs, but producing molds still required external factories, which was too time-consuming and costly.Paul used the combination of the FormBox vacuum former and a 3D printer to gain complete control over the design process. Paul A. Young collaborated with Charlotte Lodder to design a series of geometric 3D printed shapes, and then used the FormBox to create molds. The ability to replicate molds in seconds allowed Paul to quickly experiment with new ideas and elevate product design to a new level.

Full Control Over the Process
Once the design was finalized, she first used "Mayku Pour" – a specialized plaster included with the FormBox – to fill the molds. Once hardened, the plaster became a sturdy and durable prototype, allowing for multiple vacuum forming cycles without deformation. This inexpensive, fast method is also easier to store and can be reused later. Through these rapid replication processes, Paul could quickly distribute internally produced molds to each branch. Furthermore, they could even produce product packaging tailored to the special shape of each chocolate.
Paired with a 3D printer, the Mayku FormBox can be a development tool for any food craft. Mayku material sheets are food-safe and durable, serving as general forming molds and ready for immediate use. They are affordable and compact. Without the need for outsourcing, Paul A. Young can complete a 3D printed prototype in one day, quickly replicate molds with the FormBox, and distribute them to other branches, ensuring consistent high-quality artisan chocolates are produced in all stores.

Stop worrying about molds, no more running back and forth to external factories, and stop wasting time and money. Now you can have your own in-house development equipment to make your own molds – affordable, fast, and streamlined!
