Previously, the functionality of the Multiplier  was managed through pre-configured material profiles. With Custom Mode, you now have the flexibility to fine-tune the Multiplier to seamlessly work with a vast array of different thermoforming materials. Use Custom Mode to experiment with a wide range of thermoforming materials, including Mayku's own materials, third-party materials, and any other thermoforming materials you can find.

Using Custom Mode, you can learn any new type of thermoforming sheet in minutes. The Multiplier can also save and edit hundreds of material profiles for future use, making it easy to access materials from any supplier. You can also edit the saved material sheet data after production is complete.

Any thermoforming material between 0.1 mm and 5 mm can be used in Custom Mode. When combined with the reducing plate, you can generate profiles for materials larger than 5 mm, opening up a new pathway for applications. With these enhancements, engineers, designers, and educators can experiment, validate, and optimize settings for a large number of factory-grade thermoforming materials.

 


How to get Custom Mode?

Thermoforming Steps with Custom Mode Tutorial
 



1. Select Material Sheet

First, choose the material sheet for your project. You can use full-size sheets cut into 428 mm diameter circles. Alternatively, if you have a reducing plate, you can also use A4 or US Letter size sheets, which allows for more efficient material use for smaller models.

2. Create Custom Profile

• Go to "Materials List"
• Select "New Material"
• Fill in "Material Type", "Temperature", and "Pressure"

* Different materials have different forming temperatures and pressures. Generally, thicker sheets require higher pressure for effective forming. For example, a 1 mm HIPS sheet might require 160 °C and 45 PSI for optimal results, but a 3 mm HIPS sheet might need 160 °C and 60 PSI. It is best to experiment with these settings for your specific application.

You can choose to adjust the following parameters:
• Form Time: Duration the sheet is under pressure
• Cool Time: Duration the sheet cools after pressure is released
• Heater on at pressure: Determines when the heater activates. For fast-heating materials, you can modify this value to minimize waiting time.

3. Calibrate Material Sheet
The Multiplier uses a small pump to calibrate the material sheet, allowing the Multiplier to keep the sheet perfectly level during heating.

• Select "Calibrate"

• During the calibration phase, press the up and down arrows on the machine to ensure the sheet remains as level as possible.

* Correct calibration is extremely important!!! It prevents issues such as uneven sheets, difficulty closing the machine, or improper heating.


4. Save Material Sheet Profile
Once calibration is complete, you can save the material sheet profile. You can use the generated name or name it yourself for future reference.
