【3D Printing Application】Off-road Impact Performance Test: BCN Leads Team to Victory!
To encourage students from universities worldwide to experiment with various technologies and develop different types of electric off-road motorcycles, the "International Smart Motorcycle Challenge" is held annually. The ELISAVA Racing Team from Spain participated with a "Mountain Rescue Off-road Motorcycle" theme, using a BCN3D 3D printer to produce 19 mechanical parts, ultimately winning 5 awards. Watch their journey below:
Designed for mountain rescue, this off-road motorcycle needs to handle any emergency in diverse mountainous terrain. Strength, speed, resistance, and stability must be strictly controlled!

When developing motorcycle parts that come into contact with batteries and electronics, the ELISAVA Racing Team used ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) filament to effectively isolate electrical resistance and achieve a low static electricity effect. To improve the motorcycle's friction resistance, for parts most susceptible to impact and friction, PP (polypropylene) filament was used as the main material for the mudguards (Click here to see: 3D Printing Filament Comparison Guide). During the development process, they could also quickly test and modify part shapes and surface effects.

BCN3D uses IDEX (Independent dual extruders) 3D printing technology, where the two print head systems are completely separate and move independently, preventing their nozzle movements from interfering with each other during operation. By using Mirror Mode, 3D objects can be printed simultaneously and symmetrically, significantly saving the team a lot of production time. (Click here to see: The history of Camper shoe development: BCN replicates twice as fast!)

Through 3D printing technology, the ELISAVA Racing Team not only broke the traditional manufacturing process for automotive and motorcycle parts but also successfully produced strong, durable, and ready-to-use parts. They stood out among many competitors, ultimately winning 5 awards. Did you enjoy this sharing?
