🧧 3DMart's Little-Known Facts about the Year of the Snake!
In both Chinese and Western cultures, the primary symbolism of the snake 🐍 is often negative, but not entirely so! The symbolic meaning of the snake also has a positive side!
In ancient Chinese legends, snakes and cranes were considered symbols of longevity, thus signifying auspiciousness. In foreign cultures, ancient Egyptians regarded the snake as the protector of monarchs. Pharaohs crafted cobra images from gold and jewels and adorned their crowns with them as emblems of royal power.
In ancient China, snakes were also viewed as symbols of longevity, abundance, or fertility, especially in the ancient cultures of the southwest or southern regions, where artifacts featuring snakes as a motif are common. The earliest examples are sculpted stone snakes excavated from the ancient Shu people's ruins, dating back to the late Shang Dynasty, with at least four discovered at the Jinsha site in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
