【3D Printing】Bambu Lab Launches New 3D Printer Farm Management Tool
After nearly a year of beta testing, 3D printer manufacturer Bambu Lab has officially launched its local area network management tool, Bambu Farm Manager.
This new software is designed for users managing multiple 3D printers, providing comprehensive control over a fleet of 3D printers without relying on cloud connectivity.
The platform became available for free download on May 27, 2025, and currently supports P1, A1, and X1C 3D printers, with support for X1E and H2D models expected later this year.

Bambu Lab's Farm Manager aims to address growing concerns about data privacy and operational efficiency by allowing users to monitor and control printers directly over a local area network.
Its target customers are print farms, educational institutions, enterprises, and other organizations with strict IT requirements.
The tool includes a server component that runs 24/7 in the background to maintain communication with printers, and a client interface that allows users to manage printing operations.
"Farm Manager gives me and my clients full control over where their data goes. It also makes managing a fleet of printers a breeze, significantly reducing operational costs," said Korneel, service engineer and founder of Korneel 3D.

Features Designed for 3D Print Farm Scale
Key features of Farm Manager include real-time monitoring, bulk control, intelligent job queuing based on availability, file organization tools, and power management options to optimize printer startup times.
These features are designed to scale to accommodate large printer fleets, with the only limitations being the user's local network and system resources.
Bambu Lab emphasizes that all currently available features are free to use, but paid enhancements may be introduced in the future.
For Korneel, this software has proven its effectiveness.
The founder manages approximately 35 Bambu Lab 3D printers, with the number of printers increasing to 45 as project demands grow.
His client base covers manufacturers and artists, many of whom have strict compliance requirements regarding privacy, data handling, and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR.
Before adopting Bambu Farm Manager, Korneel relied on cloud-based tools, which presented numerous issues regarding data storage, deletion, and telemetry.
He faced increasing pressure from clients who demanded that design files and print data remain entirely local.
The existence of Bambu Farm Manager eliminates these concerns, removing the reliance on the cloud and allowing him full control over client files and system operations.
The system enables Korneel to streamline workflows without compromising security.
He can manage printers across segmented networks, monitor job progress through a unified dashboard, and ensure the security of data.
The system also supports rapid scaling, allowing him to add or remove machines with minimal friction according to project needs.
Korneel pointed out that hardware performance is also crucial.
Faster printing speeds and consistent output quality help him complete tasks on time and reduce rework, while low energy consumption and extremely low maintenance costs contribute to overall cost-effectiveness.
Across thousands of jobs, his equipment has remained consistently stable.
How it Works
Bambu Farm Manager consists of two parts:

The Farm Manager Server runs 24/7 in the background and handles all communication with the printers.
The Farm Manager Client is the interface you use to monitor and control your farm.
There's no hard limit to the number of printers you can connect, as long as your network and PC can handle it.
Key Features
Bambu Farm Manager provides the essential tools needed to run an efficient 3D printing operation, with features designed for ease of use:
Real-time monitoring: Get an at-a-glance view of each printer's progress.
Batch control: Send commands to multiple groups of printers at once.
Smart queuing: Assign jobs based on printer availability.
Organized file handling: Navigate more easily with folders, tags, and filters.
Smart power management: You can choose to enable staggered print startups to prevent power overload.
A New Approach to Print Management
Print management tools in 3D printing enable remote monitoring, control, and optimization of multiple jobs, which is crucial for improving efficiency and reducing downtime.
These tools are particularly useful for print farms that require centralized coordination of equipment and users.
At the 2021 RAPID+TCT show, Markforged, acquired by Nano Dimension, launched Eiger Fleet, a cloud-based print management platform designed to help manufacturers scale their 3D printing operations.
The software is designed to seamlessly integrate into existing workflows, enabling users to automate and monitor an entire fleet of 3D printers while maintaining strict control over data, quality, and access.
Through real-time tracking, API integration, and role-based permission management, teams can manage digital inventory, assign tasks, and streamline production processes through a single interface.
Early adopters like Vestas Wind Systems used Eiger Fleet to reduce the cost and lead time of turbine tooling, cutting a three-week process down to three days.
Polish 3D printer manufacturer Zortrax introduced the inCloud print management system to simplify remote operation of its 3D printers, especially for enterprises managing large print farms.
The platform allows users to upload models, remotely start or pause prints, and coordinate simultaneous jobs through its Multiprint feature.
This solution is designed for team environments, supporting the assignment of user groups to specific printers, thereby reducing the need for on-site supervision.
To protect user privacy, files are encrypted during transmission and deleted after upload.
Storage plans range from 1 GB to 50 GB and are renewable monthly.
