【3D Printing Application】On-site exclusive! 3D printing a 1:1 super large car headlight housing!

Another finished print to share! After demonstrating a large 1:1 car brake caliper last time, we were commissioned by a client to create a 1:1 prototype car headlight housing. This time, we used an Ultimaker S5, splitting the model into two parts for assembly, and finally completed it successfully!
Keen-eyed fans might recognize that its original form was a mystery guest at the 3D Printing Exhibition in early September! Now, let's take a look at the process of its creation!

Even split into two parts, this size was more challenging than the previous brake caliper. We also used an Ultimaker S5 and PLA, along with the super helper PVA water-soluble support to complete it. After five days of printing, the photo shows the height almost reaching the top of the 3D printer.

To faithfully present it to our clients, we opened the door of the Ultimaker S5 and took photos from different angles before disassembly. Previously, the front of Ultimaker's 3D printers had an open design. The Ultimaker S5, with its magnetic door panel, can better maintain temperature and isolate environmental changes, helping to reduce warping.

The dual-nozzle system of the Ultimaker S5, combined with PVA water-soluble support, is very convenient and is our most commonly used printing method. For complex samples with snap-fit designs like this, it eliminates the hassle of post-processing and removes worries about damaging the model itself during the process.

After about two days, the PVA had completely dissolved. We took photos from multiple angles so everyone could see the details clearly. The snap fits and structural recesses are all very precise and complete. The application of PVA indeed yielded great results. Our FDM-based printing service uses Ultimaker 3D printers to provide customers with high-quality 3D prints.

Finally, the two large components are joined together to complete the assembly. We've also included a ruler so everyone can see just how big it is.

If you missed the 3D Printing Exhibition this time, don't despair! We will also be exhibiting at the Taipei Cycle Show at Hall 3 of the Taipei World Trade Center from October 31st to November 3rd this year. Everyone is welcome to visit, learn something new, and grab some freebies. All the latest news and promotions will be announced immediately on our Facebook page. Please follow us to stay updated!
